Popular and hilarious themed parties. You may find yourself being invited to an ’80s party and not knowing what to wear to the party. Use these tips to revive the look of the fun and exciting 1980s that can help you mingle or even be the party theme!
Your own outfits
Mix and match colors. Many 80s fashion followers have incorporated bold, bright colors. Neon colors are especially popular.
Combine your top and bottom and add an array of contrasting colors. For example, electric blue tops and pants can be accented with a bright yellow or pink belt and chunky earrings.
Contrast your bright colors. If you don’t have the right outfit, you can also mix different bright colors together. Try to match three or four different colors, all of which are different but all bright.
Light-colored socks can be worn underneath short skirts and over warm-legged tops of different colors.
Shaping your outfit.
The 80’s was a time of experimenting with different styles. Women’s styles tend to be big above and small at the bottom. An oversized shirt is often paired with a short skirt or tight pants or leggings.
If you don’t have oversized tops or tops with oversized bottoms try looking in your parents ‘closet (they might even have real clothes from the’ 80s). Younger siblings may have tight clothing that is too small for you that you can borrow to wear pants.
Find or make shoulder pads.
Shoulder pads are very common in women’s clothing. Shoulder pads are as large as possible. If you don’t have a top with shoulder padding, try tucking it with some sort of padding
Try an 80s punk look.
Another approach is to go to the punk style of the 80s, mainly black and denim.
Wear at least two different coats. Men usually wear denim pants with denim jacket, women wear denim short skirt with denim jacket. Men and women usually wear a tight-fitting shirt underneath a denim jacket.
Combine denim and lace. The classic style of the 80s is a lace top with denim acid wash jeans or a denim mini skirt. The contrast of the significantly different materials is a key feature of the 80s style.
